Ever since the summer after his eighth birthday, Brian has fainted every time he gets a nosebleed. Brian believes this is a result of having been abducted by aliens, and is still trying to get to the bottom of his problem at the age of 18. Neil, meanwhile, has been prostituting himself to men since the time he was a boy: Neil's interest in men also began at the age of eight. Mysterious Skin reveals that for both boys a certain baseball coach played a big part in that summer. This is a beautiful film featuring a dream-like portrayal of the gritty issue of child abuse put to a mysterious soundtrack.
