Sunflowers

Shinya packs up his life in Nagoya to head for Tokyo and live happily ever after with his boyfriend Ryoichi. Unfortunately, happily ever after is cut short when Shinya suddenly falls ill from AIDS. Ryoichi devotes himself to supporting and encouraging Shinya, whose mother soon arrives on the scene and invites the two of them return to Nagoya with her so that Shinya can convalesce. Ryoichi and Shinya return to Nagoya, where Shinya continues to receive treatment, but this proves to be of no avail, and Shinya passes on. After Shinya's death, Ryoichi continues to live with Shinya's mother, and in her garden he plants the sunflowers that Shinya loved so well. Even now when the summer comes, the garden fills with those sunflowers...

“Who's scared of a test?”
“Who's scared of a test?” was made with the full cooperation of the Tokyo Metropolitan Testing and Counseling Office in Minami Shinjuku, which is the free HIV testing center run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Junchan's realistic direction and a one of a kind performance from Esmralda have made this film a hit in Shinjuku 2-chome.
