Queer Cartoons
2001.07.22, 11:30

Who knew what the weekend morning cartoon lineup was missing? Queer animation has come into its own, and TLGFF is proud to bring you our first-ever all-animation program. We kick off with Sissy Duckling, the story of a gentle duck who, predictably, gets called a sissy by taunting fellow ducks. Listen for Sharon Stone's narration, and Harvey Fierstein (Torch Song Trilogy) as Sissy. Next is the hilarious Ambiguously Gay Duo, featuring a gay version of Batman and Robin in their crusade against evil. Hete-Roy's ray gun "straightens out" any gay man who falls in its path, and Achilles and The Rape of Ganymede are portrayals of ancient Greek heroes yearning for love. We finish with Japan's very own Blair Bitch Project, a formidable blend of light, sound and drag queens from Tokyo club VJ Akahige. With seldom-seen gay cartoons from all over the world, this program promises to satisfy even the most exacting of animation fans.
