Indian-American
Reena is trying to make it as a photographer, and also works as
a henna artist. Her mother, by contrast, is traditionally minded,
and nags Reena to hurry up, get married and produce some grandchildren
to make her mother happy. Reena's answer? Children are out of the
question, as she's a lesbian, living happily with her girlfriend
and another lesbian friend. One day, however, the news breaks that
Reena's newlywed sister Sarita is infertile. Seeing Sarita's distress,
Reena makes up her mind to put family first and become a surrogate
mother for Sarita's child. Needless to say, her decision causes
quite a stir...
An award-winning audience-pleaser at film festivals around the world
and released in theaters across North America, this popular comedy
has finally come to Japan. One of those heartwarmers that will make
you laugh out loud and remind you just how special family and friends
really are, Chutney Popcorn is a modern-day old-fashioned feel-good
flick. Preceded by Bone Wish, a moody, beautifully-shot incantation
of desire with surprising results.
